Over 300 players, including International Masters, compete in a thrilling FIDE-ranking blitz tournament hosted in collaboration with TDCA
Thane, April 13, 2025: The Chess Blitz Ranking Tournament held at Thane’s premier shopping destination, KORUM Mall, concluded today with resounding success making Korum Mall the first ever mall to host a FIDE Ranking chess Blitz in India! Organized in collaboration with the Thane District Chess Association (TDCA), the tournament delivered an exhilarating day of strategic brilliance and rapid-fire gameplay.
The event, held under the aegis of the TDCA, Maharashtra Chess Association, All India Chess Federation, and FIDE, featured official FIDE-rated blitz matches. Over 300 participants, including International Masters (IMs), and emerging talents, competed in this high-energy tournament, captivating audiences with their tactical prowess and split-second decisions.
This grand tournament witnessed a n impressive turnout of more than 300 players from various States, Districts, and Federations, including 139 FIDE-rated players. Among the participants were 2 International Masters (IM) and 5 FIDE Masters (FM), with two international players representing Norway.
Participants hailed from across the country, including states such as Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. The competition also drew entries from around 10 districts, namely Thane, Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburb, Pune, Nashik, Surat, Ahmednagar, Raigad, Palghar, and Ratnagiri.
International Master M Mohammad Nubairshah Shaikh was the top seed, followed by International Master M Tilak Sharad S as the second seed.

- FM Jeet Jain – Champion, awarded Rs.40,000
- Dere Pushkar – 1st Runner-up, awarded Rs.30,000
- Shah Mihir – 2nd Runner-up, awarded Rs.20,000
The tournament boasted a total prize fund of Rs. 2,50,000/-, in addition to 43 attractive trophies distributed among standout performers across various categories.
The tournament was expertly officiated by International Arbiter Deepak Tandel as the Chief Arbiter, with International Arbiter Gourav Ray serving as Deputy Chief Arbiter, and IA Rahul Joshi handling pairings. The event was meticulously organized by International Arbiter Mohit Ladhe, who served as both the Chief Organizer and Tournament Director.
From 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, KORUM Mall transformed into a vibrant hub of concentration and excitement, where chess enthusiasts, families, and curious onlookers came together to witness fierce battles unfold across the boards. The electrifying atmosphere made it a memorable day for all attendees.
