Befikr is a pioneering Home Services startup, focused on creating an evolved ecosystem that benefits stakeholders at both ends of the spectrum, i.e. households as well as home services professionals. Started by three friends, Chirajay, Sunny and Sumit, in January 2016, the company seeks to become the global synonym of Home Services by focusing on world class service standards.
The disruptive nature of Befikr comes from its unique business model wherein it employs its own in-house team of trained and expert handymen called ‘Befikr Brothers’. This is a revolutionary step towards organizing the unorganized Home Services market, which helps ensure top quality home services for households and bankable employment opportunities for home services professionals. Befikr has enabled a one-stop shop for all home service fikrs such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, air conditioning, pest control, car dry cleaning, sofa-carpet dry cleaning and home deep cleaning.
The idea for Befikr was proposed after the founders noticed the huge gap in the typical aggregation-based Home Services space, between customers’ expectation and quality of services. The basic flaw of aggregation based model was that it failed to provide the right type of motivation, as needed to deliver top quality home services in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
The founders launched Befikr to eliminate such issues; focusing on a three-pronged strategy – People, Training and Efficient Operations. The assurance that comes from being a part of an organization has helped Befikr brothers to focus exclusively on their work and ensure optimal customer satisfaction. Extensive technical training as well as soft skills training is regularly provided to Befikr brothers, which elevates customer experience to an altogether new level. Befikr has also pioneered the concept of cluster offices, strategically located across different parts of the city, which helps ensure quick and efficient operations.
The scope for improvement was always there in the Home Services space, but no one was willing to take the risks involved. Befikr founders took up the challenge by launching operations on a small scale in Noida. The response they received was way above their expectations, which motivated them to go aggressive with their new idea of organizing the unorganized Home Services space. The business was bootstrapped till the time of achieving a perfect ‘proof of concept’. The company raised angel funding to the tune of $0.5 million in the month of January and is currently in advance talks to raise Series-A round of ~$5 million.
Befikr follows a unit based pricing model, wherein customers are charged as per the rates listed on the website. The team handles 200-250 service calls per day and has created a customer base of approximately 30,000 Befikr Families acrossDelhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad and Pune. The company has big plans for the future, which includes geographical expansion as well as launching new services. The aim is to cover 100 top cities over the next 4 years and becomea₹500 crore company by 202. Befikr expects significant growth in the coming years, as according to its estimates, the target market for their service portfolio ranges between $10 billion – $12 billion.
