Priyanka Singh Rawat

Priyanka Singh Rawat is an Indian politician and a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Lok Sabha constituency of Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh. She is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, she defeated her nearest rival Panna Lal Punia of Indian National Congress (INC) by a margin of more than 2 lakh votes. Prior to joining mainstream politics, Priyanka was a media professional. She joined mainstream politics, as she realized that she can serve the nation better through politics. She has remained committed to the development of her constituency Barabanki and focused on improving law & order and road connectivity. Although Priyanka comes from a powerful family background, with her father being a retired PCS officer and her husband an IAS officer, she is the first in the family to join mainstream politics.

Early Life and Education

Priyanka Singh Rawat was born in Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. She was born on August 7, 1985 to Shri Uttam Ram Singh and Smt. Prabha Singh. Her educational qualifications include M.A. (Political Science), P.G. Diploma in Mass Communication and Electronic Journalism. She received her education from M.J.P. Ruhelkhand University, Bareilly. Her marriage took place on December 5, 2007. She was married to Shri Raghunath, a 2007 batch IAS officer.
