Vi Partners with Punjab Police to Ensure Safety of Children at Shaheedi Jor Mela in Fatehgarh Sahib

As part of the ‘Be Someone’s We’ initiative, Vi will provide children with QR code wrist bands to help identify and contact their parents in case of an emergency, in a safe and secure manner

Chandigarh, 25 December, 2024: Leading telecom operator Vi has announced a unique digital initiative along with the Punjab Police for the Shaheedi Jor Mela, which will take place at Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib.

To ensure the safety of children who will attend the gathering, Vi will provide bands with unique QR codes to each child. In the unfortunate instance where they may be separated from their parents/guardians, the children can find the nearest police help desk, where a simple scan of the QR code will allow the authorities to contact their parents/guardians in a safe and secure manner.

This initiative is under Vi’s larger ‘Be Someone’s We’ campaign and philosophy, which underlines the importance of using technology to bring loved ones closer to each other.

Deepak Rao, Cluster Business Head- Punjab, Haryana, HP, J&K, Vodafone Idea, said, “Festivals and large gatherings are all about bringing people together. However, with children, there is always the worry that they might get separated from their parents or guardians. With this initiative, we are merely playing our part in ensuring that people have complete peace of mind. We are grateful to the Punjab Police for partnering with us for this cause.”

Dr. Ravjot Grewal, SSP Fatehgarh Sahib said, “This is a simple and safe way of ensuring that no child is lost at the Shaheedi Jor Mela. I urge the citizens to collect these QR code bands from Vi helpdesk and register themselves to ensure safety of their children.”

The QR code bands will be active from 25th to 27th December during the Mela and are non-transferable.

Devotees and pilgrims can collect the bands from the Vi suraksha counters set up at the parking lot near the Baba Moti Ram Mehra Memorial Gate, at the entrance of the parking lot of Shri Guru Granth Sahib World University and near the Dharam Kanda Mandi Board, Sirhind.
