Pain-Free Maharashtra achieves Guinness World Records ™ title for conducting the most joint health checkups in 24 hours

Mamta and Madhusudan Agarwal Foundation achieves major milestone ; Chairman pledges ₹ 70 crore for a pain-free Maharashtra

Mumbai , December 5 : The Mamta and Madhusudan Agarwal Foundation, led by philanthropist Mr. Madhusudan Agarwal (Vice Chairman and Co-Founder , Ajanta Pharma and Honorary Consul , Republic of Uganda) , has achieved the Guinness World Records title for performing the maximum number of knee examinations in 24 hours under the Pain-Free Maharashtra initiative.

The record was officially certified today in Mumbai by Ms. Sonia Ushiroguchi, a Guinness World Records adjudicator from Japan. The teams worked tirelessly to screen 512 patients from underprivileged communities in Maharashtra. This achievement follows a massive screening initiative conducted between November 27th and 28th , 2025 , in Risod , one of the most economically disadvantaged areas of Washim district .

This record-breaking event was based on a week-long free joint health camp held in Risod , Washim district , where patients from over 10 districts, including Washim , Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, and Yavatmal, received free hip and knee checkups. The camp’s primary objective was to identify individuals requiring knee or hip replacement. Mobility and gait assessments , medical consultations, and follow-up planning were also provided. All participants received free medications. Importantly, the Foundation will cover the entire cost of replacement surgery for those recommended . This initiative strengthens access to early detection and treatment.

Giving details about this initiative , Mr. Madhusudan Agarwal said ,  It’s an honor to receive the Guinness World Records title , but the real success lies in reaching those who lack access to specialized joint care. At 70 , I consider it my responsibility to give back to society in a meaningful way . This initiative reflects our commitment to ensuring mobility , dignity, and improved health for every citizen . I am extremely grateful to our doctors , volunteers , and partners who made this historic achievement possible.

Launching the Pain-Free Maharashtra campaign, he said ,  The true significance of this achievement is drawing attention to joint health challenges in underserved communities. Through Pain-Free Maharashtra, we aim to raise awareness , promote early care, and help people maintain their mobility and dignity. I express my heartfelt gratitude to our doctors , volunteers, and partners .”

On the occasion of his 70th birthday, Mr. Madhusudan Agarwal announced a donation of ₹ 70 crore to improve healthcare services in rural Maharashtra . This amount will be used to expand joint care services , improve diagnostic facilities, and provide mobility assistance. This commitment will improve the quality of life of thousands of patients and provide solutions to their long-standing joint pain.

Guinness World Records adjudicator Ms. Sonia Ushiroguchi from Japan said ,  On behalf of Guinness World Records , I congratulate the Mamta Madhusudan Agarwal Memorial Foundation and Sanjivani Mamta Hospital and Research Centre on this extraordinary achievement. Guinness World Records has always supported initiatives that promote health , whether it’s prevention , raising awareness, or promoting community well-being. I am honored to present this certificate , which symbolizes helping humanity and making the world a better and healthier place.
